Perennial Herb; Salvia officinalis , Seed purchased from Fedco Seeds, lot 351, packed for 2013. This auction is for 12 seeds.

Sage has fuzzy grey-green oblong leaves and blue flowers, and will grow up to about 3 feet tall.. Likes well-drained rich soil with good nitrogen content and takes full sun; tolerates dry conditions. Cold hardy to Zone 4.

Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president, grew sage at Monticello. In addition to being useful and delicious, sage will form a lovely, ornamental dwarf shrub that attracts bees and butterflies, but not deer.

Use it fresh, or bundle up small bunches and hang upside down to dry. It's specially wonderful with poultry & pork. Sage is used medicinally as well What's not to like?

Thanks so much! She was a Golden Retriever Golden Lab mix named Cayenne. We still have her sister who is all golden colored, but Cay had to be put down a few years ago. Her sister is doing well but gets upset when the anniversary of her death comes. Some say animals don't have concept of things like that but I disagree! I use her pic because Cayenne was smiling and I love that pic of her! I love all our pets but sometimes can't help but remember those who are gone...and yes I do think of them just like I do people! They are nicer than some people I know :) LOL!! Sad but true

I think animals are aware of our emotions and feelings in a special way. My friend's dog can sense when her blood sugar is dropping and has woken up her husband when she critically needed the help. She saved her life!
