Description
The listing, Odd coin (one cent) American Read before bidding. has ended.
(Not Old) (Not Steel) minted in 1974
Someone gave me the coin because he knew I like odd stuff. We think it had been Nickle plated by someone, don't know the reasoning behind it.

Questions & Comments
I had one exactly like this. I don't believe I found any info on it but may I suggest asking the people at cointalk.com It's a great forum and the people are really helpful.
back in 74 they was talking about making the cent out of aluminum and some samples got out this could be someones attempt to trick people into thinking they had one even though a nickel plated one would be a lot heavier then a aluminum one and its illeagle to own the aluminum one as well as the 1981 steel cent which the same thing happened some got out they were thinking of steel cents before they switched to the copper plated zinc which is what we got now
in 1974 the US Mint made several aluminum pennies. these were test strikes that were never supposed to leave the mint. this coin has been played. a fun coin to own. bidding.
