Just to make sure... the title says External Hard Drive, but this is an external DVD drive, or am I missing something? If the specs you quoted are for the external drive, I think the 'Hard Drive: 10GB' refers to the amount of free space required on your current hard drive in order to use this DVD drive.

It is both. A external hard drive and a DVD drive. Basically you can store several movies or music and burn to a CD, DVD, RW, Dual Layered For Optimal Viewing ;)

I'm sorry, but I don't think you have what you think you do. According to these links - http://store.sony.com/p/DRX-820U/en/p/DRX820U - and - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2171030 - this is, as I thought, just an external DVD recorder. The 10gb Hard Drive (as per the Sony website link) is just a System Requirement needed in order to use this drive.

It IS a nice DVD recorder, but I think someone is going to be disappointed when they win this thinking it is/includes a hard drive.
