This is a really beautiful set of an old, oriental set of coasters. There are six coasters in all. My grandmother gave me this set a few years ago, and I had always admired it. I'm honestly not sure exactly how old they are, but I do remember them being in the top drawer of her dining room buffet table when I was younger. They still look brand new, as she never even used them. They're made of a blond or light-colored wood...I believe maybe bamboo. See the last photo- you can see the fiber grain, as well as the pretty weaved design. Each coaster has a different oriental picture on it, and oriental printing above each photo. They are finished in a thick, high-gloss coating on the top/photo side, which would surely protect them should they be used as intended. They have sweet, scalloped-like edges and the set fits nicely in a matching wooden holder. The coasters measure 4" x 4", and in the holder, they weigh a total of 9 oz...this feels heavier than it appears (in my opinion).

If anyone can identify the exact wood, please leave a comment! I'd love to know exactly what it is, or isn't :).
