The listing, Star Wars DVD "Star Wait" has ended.
Six full Weeks before episode II: Attack of the clones a group of people stood in line outside Grauman's Chinese theatre to buy the tickets for the movie and it was recorded as a documentary/reality movie.
Everything from how they went to the bathroom, showered, ate, slept etc has been recorded. Even George Lucas himself made a phone call to the public phone outside the line to check on them.
I consider myself a big Star Wars fan to the tune that I'm getting ready to join the 501st, but this pales in comparison.
If you have seen a local event or charity around your neighborhood with SW characters in very cool costumes there is a very good chance they either belong to the 501st or the Rebel Alliance. If you have seen or heaed of Star Wars Weekends Disney World the parade is comprised of both of these organization.
To belong there one needs a replica costume of any one of the characters in the movie or the clone wars TV series of very high quality. They are volunteers that do many events in the neighborhood or around the world if they can afford to travel. Many states have a garrison and a garrison has many squads. For example I belong to the Florida garrison, Tampa Bay Squad because of where I live. But anyone can join a forum in their state and learn whats going on events wise or if they wish to become a full member etc. Hope that helps :)
The Midwest is less populated that east or west coast and for that reason the garrisons there cover more than one state with some exceptions. 70thexplorers.com covers Missouri and Kansas. In there, the gateway squad covers Missouri. It does not cost anything to join the forums and participate, go to events and parties. To be a full member you need an approved costume at your own expense.
