The listing, Jewelweed seedlings (6) has ended.

Impatiens capensis Meerb.
Jewelweed, Orange Jewelweed, Spotted Touch-Me-Not
Balsaminaceae (Touch-Me-Not Family)
USDA Symbol: IMCA
USDA Native Status: Native to U.S.

Jewelweed is delightful in several ways! First of all, it attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Secondly, if you get poison ivy, it is an old and effective remedy. It is prolific and will seed itself. Jewelweed is a must for any wildflower garden. The blooms are a bright orange, although there are yellow and even pink varieties, I believe. Best of all, perhaps, is that it will bloom even in a fairly shady area!

I have to charge for shipping because these are live young plants and they are fairly "tender," but hardy, i.e. they may arrive a bit wilted but I have often transplanted them and watched them spring back to life from looking "wilted." They are NOT hardwood. They are annuals but I always get plenty of them every spring!

would you take stamps in lieu of $ for shipping?

I could. The problem with jewelweed is that the plants are "tender" although tough. They wilt but will revive when planted. I can ship them more cheaply but I cannot guarantee they won't get squashed. The last ones I sent arrived in good shape!

I would recommend Priority mail which would be between $5-$6. I can try to package carefully as possible and send it cheaper or split the shipping cost with the winner. It is costing me a lot to ship live plants and I often don't break even! Still, I do like to share and these wildflowers are really cool. They produce seeds, but like commercial impatiens, the seed pods tend to burst when touched so harvesting the seeds.
