The listing, VINTAGE HANDKERCHIEF Lace Tatting Old And Nice Hankie has ended.

This handy is so beautiful! Gorgeous double row of unique tatting; which is made by tying knots... A very old fashioned hobby was to turn a plain hankie into a work of art. Hankie is linen with a hem stitch near the hem, ivory linen and looks like never been used. There is a very slight mark I pointed out in last pic.
Looks like a storage mark. It is hardly noticeable and I just want to point everything out. Thanks for watching.
Home is no smoking and hankie measures 10.5x10.5. :)

Really lovely! The tatting is amazing-somebody really took their time. The mark is just from the hankies "linen" sticker and will come out with a bit of lemon juice and then hand wash with Woolite or an antique textile or quilt wash. Nice piece,it would be perfect for a bride to carry and there's plenty of places to get her monogram added too!

That's what women did before they had all these "labor saving" devices. I crocheted many hankies when I was still in school. They alsways had that linen sticker on them.

Wow! You are my first "real" person that crocheted them. How long did it take to crochet around one of the linen blanks?
Today it is called "texting". Haha. :))

I tat. I am still yet to do a hankie and want to replicate this one in a different color. Maybe a sweet baby blue for a bride, or pink for a shower, or even some pastels for my grandmother who is never without a hankie.
