They look to be clear, unmounted to wood to me.

They are clear unmounted acrylic stamps. You put them on clear blocks to use. I love clear stamps because you can see through the block to place inked stamp right where you want it on your card or scrapbook page.

The size of letters are between a 1/2" & 3/4" tall.

There are doubles of certain letters in case you want to spell a word that has two of the same letter. There are only one of some letters because there are not commonly used as double letters.
