Questions & Comments
If u dont mind me saying WTF is a 1990 Donruss rare aqueous test card?????????????
Look I thought I put something unique up on this lista auction site they are rare yes they are on ebay yes u can get them but how man y are out there ti my knowledge this came from mid west dealer
No disrespect intended...I just don't really know enough about these cards and am interested, but understandably skeptical because of all the known fakes of these floating around....
I saw one at a card show 20 years ago. At the time it wasn't a big thing to people just like 1986-87 fleer basketball meant nothing in 1987. Someday I will finish my time machine and stand next to myself at that card show and whisper in my ear 'buy that one.'
Well let me explain, you don't have to bid, I got this card off ebay, I always wanted one and after I got it, I got out of cards, I did not print this card, it was obtained on ebay though dealer... Have never saw one on lista so GIN was just a thought... Never smoked nothing bad for your health, but thanks for checking out, first time I ever had two pages of comments...
How sure are you that this card isn't a fake? I ask because I was under the impression that, excluding pitchers and DK's, on all authentic aqueous cards the "T" in TEST cuts through 3B on the statistical heading....the one your showing in the pic seems to have the "T" slightly underneath the 3B...
The star cards are so hard to get, they can reach the 100.00 range in less than 10 minutes if you can find them, because as the cardpedia page states there maybe only 1 Trammell out there
and from Beckett: The Aqueous Test cards appear exactly as the regular 1990 Donruss cards issued with (2) distinctions on the reverse of the card:
1) Horizontally (from upper-left to lower-right) "AQUEOUS TEST" is printed on the card in bold black ink. It can be noted that this phrase is seemingly printed in standard "MS MINCHO" font in various pixel size ranges (from 10px up to 20+px height).
2) In the upper right-hand corner of the card, there is no period after "INC" in the phrase, "1989 LEAF, INC"
Aqueous Test cards have yielded between 100x and 2000x their base Beckett Price Guide in terms of sales, making them the most sought after Donruss cards ever printed!
High Gloss finish, like Topps Tiffany. Damn, jjlafontano! Going to cardpedia added three more Trammells to my supercollector list from test issues alone.
this is the description from Cardpedia: Donruss produced a high-gloss, or "Aqueous," test issue. The set is identical to the 1990 Donruss base set, with the exception of the glossy coating on the front and the words "AQUEOUS TEST" on the back. There are 264 cards in this set as only two of the sheets were printed.
According to hobby legend, these cards were issued in packs, however they weren't released to the public in general distribution. Several boxes were purchased by a card shop when a former Donruss employee, a packaging director, sold them off along with some other Donruss unopened wax boxes. Among the late-80s and early 90s Donruss wax boxes were a few plain white cardboard boxes with a memo, something to the effect of "Donruss Canada" written on the side. These boxes contained 1990 Donruss cello packs which were loaded with the Aqueous cards.
Other unopened Aqueous boxes claimed to have turned up at a card shop in the Midwest.
In late August of 2012, an eBay seller sold eight unopened Aqueous packs for $200-$250 each. According to a few of the buyers, these packs contained 15 cards and one puzzle piece even though the wrapper stated only ten cards in each pack
