Description

The listing, A 1943 Steel Wheat Penny S Mint? Wartime World War 11 Zinc Coated has ended.

Hello Everyone! I've taken the absolute best close up photos that I'm able to take. I'm so sorry if these aren't the best. I've taken the penny from it's casing in order to get pics but it will be shipped inside the casing. Here's what I know and don't know about it:
It's steel. From 1943, made during World War 11 sometime., I've been told it's zinc covered. It's a Wheat Penny. These pennies were made of steel due to the war effort needing coper so badly for shell casings. I've not touched it anyway to clean it. There IS a letter under "1943". I've got a high power magnifier but even with it I cannot with 100% certainty what the letter is. My best guess is the letter P. (Possible S-Mint) Please feel free to scroll down to the comments. See the 1ST and 3RD comments. Robert has some great auctions and knows a lot more about coins than I do! He has some ideas about it that you may find interesting!
The differences in color in the photo is due to lighting and angle I took the pictures.
Well that's about it as far as what I can tell you about it.
Please feel free to ask questions, I'll answer as best I can.
I ship within 3 days of getting your verified address.
Thanks so much for looking and good luck on the auction!

Robert, you're so incredibly cool!! Thank you bunches and bunches! (My name is Char, by the way. It's such a pleasure to cyberly meet you! :) ) What the heck are you doing awake anyway? I'm not sure where you are, I'm in North Carolina. It's 6:20 A.M. here. I never went to bed :( I've been working all night on auctions. Hey! Lol... Nice to meet you on here as well char.. I wish you the best of luck on all of your auctions... ;0) I just went to sleep right after that last comment, I was up pretty late myself... ;0) I'm in Imperial Missouri so I think your an hour ahead of me. What do you think about my new profile pic? I found this in the creek a few months back, and was amazed how much it looks like a fish...lol I showed it to a artifact dealer and all they could say was it is some really high quality flint... But, I think we all know it's a indian carved fish.... ;0)
Do you ever find any indian artifacts where your at?

I never went to bed. I stayed up all night getting auctions together. I'll be in bed early tonight for sure. And that's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw your profile pic!! I was trying to see it up close and kept wondering what the heck kind of strange fish is that?? Someone in some obscure country that we've never heard of, would pay big bucks for that on ebay. Just like a moldy potato chip that looks like Elvis! Hehehe! But your rock is much cooler :D There's all kinds of pits around here, in all the southern states surrounding North Carolina. People find fossils all the time. It really could be a fish, or maybe part of one that got attached to something else.

Yep... and I have another interesting creek find that looks almost like a bear or a mastodon head with a hole drilled at the top maybe it was some caveman's necklace, I'm not for sure on that one... ;0) I might take a pic of it later to show you... ;0) Right now I've got a 2 week old kitten (cammie) who I've got to get out and feed him ;0) Then a fridge that I need to clean out... But, I was going to say I added a couple more nice auctions today, stop on by my page and check them out...

Hope your having a great day there char, and I'll be back on here in a hour or two if your still awake...lol -robert

I thought that about the fish rock, it could've been something that a Caveman owned, haha! Take care of that Cammie kitty, aaw!! By the way, my fridge needs cleaning too!! I just don't have time, I need to get these auctions up! I'm working towards gift cards on Listia. I'm sure you and I are being very entertaining to the people checking out this auction, hehe! I'll ck out your auctions as soon as I can.

LOL... I like the added to description ;0) it's flattering, but I'm just calling it like I see... From the pictures, it certainly looks to be a s-mint in which holds a slightly higher value then P or D and every collector needs the s-mint to complete their set... ;0)

Hope your coin does well for you here, I would set a minimum starting bid of 2,750 on this particular coin. I think it's 100 credits to do so, but at least you'd get closer to what it's worth... ;0) That's just my opinion because it's an s-mint and there was less of them made...S-mint's are essential to every collector and seem to most of the time hold a higher value then p or d.

Have a Good Night there Char...

+ anyone looking at this :0) hope you enjoy the commentary on this... and I just put up a great MYSTERY BONUS auction.... 1946 Roosevelt's P/D/S you get all three a complete set, plus 3 more bonus silver dimes including a mercury dime if bonus amount ( 30,000 ) is achieved... Stop over and check it out, -314Robert ;0)

There is no "p" mint mark of the steel penny. If there is no mint mark, then that indicates that it is from the Phillidelpia mint.
