Description

The listing, 1925 Louisa May Alcott Jo's Boys, sequel to Little Men has ended.

1925 Jo's Boys from Louisa May Alcott, beloved author of Little Women and Little Men.

This 316-page hardback from Little, Brown and Company is beautifully illustrated by Clara M. Burd, with eight full color plates (see pictures).

Jo's Boys and How They Turned Out, as the book is referenced on the inside page, is a sequel to Little Men. The book was Copyrighted by Louisa M. Alcott in 1886 and by Little, Brown and Company in 1925.

The pages are in good shape, although the page edges are discolored from age and the back cover shows wear -- like many books from 1925 it has a slight musty air about it.

The book has two inscriptions on the inside pages from previous owners (including one from Aunt Mina) and the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine has begun to unravel, showing the cardboard backing. I've included a scan of the back cover which by far has the most wear.

This is a beautifully illustrated book and a great gift item, particularly for anyone who has read Little Men.

NOTE: This is a heavy book, so I will ship Media Mail, which takes a few days longer than regular mail.

The book is from 1925, so it is authentically old and not a modern re-release -- this book is definitely more than 85 years old! The original Little Men was published in 1871, so the story itself had been around more than 50 years when this later edition was published, so from that point of view it is a copy -- I know they are still publishing Little Women today, but I don't know about Little Men. If this was a first edition from 1871 I probably wouldn't be offering it, but this version still a great old version of the story.
