Coin: Sarawak 1863 Penny * British Colony

Sarawak is a former British protectorate, located on the North West coast of Borneo. It is now present day Malaysia.

James Brooke established the country in 1841 as Rajah. The only coinage was a 1841 Keping,
until the decimal coins of 1863. Charles J. Brooke was James' Nephew, the Second Rajah. His
rule was 1868-1917. The third and last Rajah was Charles Verner Brooke, 1917-1945.
