I help single mothers in need by giving them clothes, diapers, toys, etc. for their child/chilldren.
I love this idea...im a huge animal lover so i hold my own personal fundraisers such as cash or donations to help all the animal victims of natural diasters..i did a fairly large one for PAWS organization when hurricane katrina occurred and recently for the animal victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes...Paws took in a huge percentage of the abandoned animals..i asked for a list each time of what supplies they needed and reached out to other people and got alot of support..i ofcourse donated and sent my own personal belongings as well..i also foster Dogs for the PAWS organization til they can place them in homes...ended up keeping 3 over the years ;)
A little, easy thing anyone can do: I donate my used prescription bottles to an animal shelter (they can't be re-used for humans, but they can be used for animals needing medication). I also volunteer for a charity that supports babies who are born addicted because their mothers used during pregnancy. These charities don't get as much attention as other charities because of the drug use-but it isn't the baby's fault! These babies need to be held almost constantly because of the withdrawals. I rock them. It is not much of a sacrifice on my part, as I get to hold babies as often as I want.
I volunteer at a local dog shelter and clean cages and walk dogs for free. I also take my 88 year old neighbor to the doctor and to the store. She has 10 kids and they are too busy to help her and I've sort of adopted her into my family.

There was a couple at church having a hard time financially two years ago. I was going through a divorce with little money myself. They needed gas money and money to buy some lunch so they can eat after picking their son up from college so he can come home. I had $40 I was going to use for lunch to go to subway for me and my kids , so I gave them the cash instead of keeping it for myself. It felt good knowing I helped a family come together for a weekend to be together. I just went home and fixed me and my kids home made sandwhiches with chips and milk.
I am reading so many good ones that I dont like that there are no like buttons like you see on FB. This is awesome you guys... Keep paying it foward and God bless you all.
Years ago, I read about a couple who did this, and my husband and I mimicked them a few times since, but we substitute a $5 takeout pizza. This couple figured they would spend around $75 on dinner, movie tickets, popcorn and sodas. So, instead, they took the $75 and went to the grocery store. They bought a large can of beef stew, then they spent the rest on basic food staples. They stopped by a food bank on the way home and donated all but the stew. Then they went home, heated up the stew and ate it, drinking soda they already had. Then they found a movie on TV, popped some popcorn they already had, and snuggled up on the couch.
