With developer would work best it is very intense and a stain as well straight could damage hair

Yes developer is the white cream stuff that comes when you buy haircolor, you can get it at most beauty supply places it is rather inexpensive. General mix instructions would be 2 developer to one color, but that requires a little experimenting depending on what you are looking for.
