Description
The listing, Black Tomato (Paul Robeson) Heirloom has ended.
Package of 15 seeds.
This famous tomato has almost a cult following among seed collectors and tomato connoisseurs. They simply cannot get enough of this variety’s amazing flavor that is so distinctive, sweet and smokey. 7-10 oz. fruit are a black-brick color. Named in honor of the famous opera singer star of ‘King Solomon's Mines’, 1937. Paul Robeson was also a Russian and Equal Rights Advocate for Blacks. This Russian heirloom was lovingly named in his honor.
Just wanted to remind everybody, whether you've won seeds from me or not, that you can feel free to shoot me gardening questions if you have them. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been in the garden since before I could walk (so I know my way around). Good luck and God bless.
Questions & Comments
Wow! Beautiful tomato! I don't have enough credits to bid on this right now, but that's ok, I have so many tomato plants just about ready to transplant that I don't really need to even be thinking about getting any more seed! :D What color are the stems of these plants? My Black Krim seed (a lucky Listia auction win, I might add) produced plants with very dark, nearly purple, stems and they've remained so as they've grown. I bet these plants are gorgeous!
Thank you! The core stem system is dark green, but the ancillary stem and leaf spines turn jet black! It is a beautiful offset to the blonde/green hue of my grapefruit toms.
