yes it zips across the top. also there is a pocket in the inside that also zips and some smaller pockets that do not zip

not very large.i personally pack half my bedroom into my regular purse though so by my standards that's not much lol. but i have,however,manage to fit in a small bottle of body spray and a lotion,a full size hair brush,my id and a few makeup items at once.it still closed but it looked bloated.i would say more of an evening bag
