I am not a collector--just getting rid of a bag of coins bought for my kids a few years ago--mostly international, these are among the few US coins I have. None have been cleaned. I am doing my best to identify them--PLEASE let me know if I need to change anything in my descriptions!

This one has a lot of wear to it, but I haven't cleaned it. I did not clean any of the coins I'm listing, although some of them could sure use a little something...something ...

Well it's good you don't clean them, because that damages the value of the coin.

Thanks, I'm aware of that. Some of them I was tempted to, because they seem a little grimy (my hands got dirty when I handled them) but since I don't know how to do it properly, I thought it was best not to. Thanks!

No, that's okay. The only reason I mention it in all my listings is to ensure that the serious collectors know I didn't monkey around with polishing them or anything like that. I appreciate all your comments, and anything new I can learn about these coins while I am listing them. I have a TON more to list, but I'm concerned about flooding the market, so I'm going to hold off a few days to put more of them on.

All my auctions are wysiwyg (what you see is what you get). I will be away tonight and tomorrow, returning Saturday evening. I can probably get online to answer questions at some point, but won't be able to respond to comments as quickly as usual.

the couple of ways to properly clean coins are olive oil or acetone baths

Well, I've got enough on my hands trying to photograph and identify a few hundred coins. They're going to have to get a bath from someone else ... LOL Don't worry, I haven't used any Windex or dish soap!

I agree. This is the only coin I have of this denomination from Iran, although I have other Iran coins. I plan to put a lot of the coins in groups, but the older and odd coins I'm listing singly.
