***Please read FULL description*** Nice! Gateway Laptop Model# 400VTX Works fine. Has Ubuntu o.s. loaded onto it; however, you can take it off and load Windows XP if you wish (there's an active product key sticker on the bottom of this laptop - original sticker). This model laptop, although a little older is a powerful workhorse and fully loaded. You can change whatever specs you wish. Battery not included; however, power cord is and it powers up perfectly fine. Has ReWritable DVD ROM/CD high speed and other nice features: see pics (laptop is heavy and weighs just over 6 lbs. ) Screen measures: 12". This item has avg cosmetic/usage wear on outside and is silver in color. I am not by any means a pc expert - if you have any questions, I will do my best to answer. Serious inquiries/bidders only please. If you do not know much about laptops/pc's then please DO NOT bid as I do not know much either and cannot help you with Ubuntu. *note* One minor "quirk" - Upon shutting down, press 'shutdown' as well as hold down the on/off button to power it off. I heard Ubuntu is great better then windows, I read some reviews and people have installed it and never looked back they said, plus its free on top of it, I have it installed on one of my laptops !!!!!

Thanks nyknick....I actually purchased this laptop from a friend who owns multiple Gateways (mainly for his work) and he never said why it doesn't have the battery...and I never bothered to purchase one because I didn't want to transition over to Ubuntu (being unfamiliar with that os) so....am selling it "as is" (sans battery)....thanks for your interest :)
