Spiderwort is most commonly known as Virginia Spiderwort and is native to the Eastern United States.

Spiderwort is known as a Herbaceous perennial and can grow from 1.5 to 3 feet in height and from 1 to 1.5 feet in width. It is most often found in moist shaded buff ledges and open woodland slopes. It does have a few problems during early development such as snail damage and also the foliage sprawls during the summer but this does not need to be monitored for too long. It has an array of showy flowers that are bloom in May to July. The colours range from blue, pink, purple and white. It would be best planted in rather shady area of your garden as full, direct sunlight would damage the foliage.

Climate Zone: 4 to 9
Mature Height: 1.5 to 3 Feet
Mature Width: 1 to 1.5 Feet
Sunlight: PrefersFull Shade to Partial Shade
Soil Conditions: Prefers Moist Acidic Soils

Botanical Name: Tradescantia virginiana

ALso downsizing my greeting cards (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, mother's day, get well, sympathy, etc) (no envelopes..those I need), so don't be surprised if the seeds arrive in one.
Thank you for stopping by and God Bless, Donna

I think it is Way to pretty to be called a "spiderwort". Before I knew the name, I called it my delicate Japanese iris....now I can't call it that anymore. This is another one that goes NUTS and spreads ;)

Hi; I also have Spiderwort growing and I absolutely love them, I am in IN. and rescued mine from roadside about 5 years ago, I grow mine around my Vegie garden and they get full sun? guess they have adapted lol. I generaly cut mine back to about 8-10 inches around the end of July (once they become leggy) Anyone winning your auction will not be disappointed with these great flowers.

They just go wild, I am going to dig up mine in the fall and place them along the fence line...there starting to HoG one of my garden beds (the one I have dedicated to my mom ;) and you're right. After awhile, they begin to get leggy, that is why I decided to have them along fence line ;)
Thanks for stopping ;)
