Actually a variety of Gaillardia, these gorgeous flowers are fairly common in the southwest but will grow in much of the country. Here in the south, they will re-seed themselves once established, but in northern climes, you might want to save a few seed heads to re-plant if they don't make it through the cold winters. I have to be honest, I'm not sure that you would have blooms by then. They are usually planted in spring and bloom mid-summer- into fall. I've never tried to plant them this late in the year. If you get them, please let me know if you succeed. I would really be interested in knowing.
