Malope is superficially similar to the Rose Mallow, but differs from it in multiple characteristics, including the stems, segments and petals. The leaves alternate without marginal teeth.

The leaves alternate, without marginal teeth. The blooms are a shiny pink surrounded by 3 bracts. The blooms are trumpet shaped and 2" to 3" wide.

They grow best where summers are cooler. Sow seeds 2-3 weeks before the last frost. The plants grow bushy, so sow 2-3 seeds per hill with 2ft between. Cover with 6 mm of soil. Overly fertile soil will produce dense plants with few blossoms. They prefer cool weather.
