The squirrels and yellow finches ate all of my sunflowers! Haha! Those little rascal squirrels would climb all the way to the top of the stalks and rip the heads off of the sunflowers and tear them into tiny pieces all over my yard. They were cute and I grew the flowers for the animals anyways. = ) We had 8 yellow finches in our yard this year and the blue birds, cardinals, and hummingbirds came too. Oh yeah and a couple of hawks hung out around the yard for a while but the starlings, sparrows, and robins gathered together and chased them off early spring. I'm pretty sure there was a family of deer were eating my beans and greens and sunflowers for a while as I found their footprints in the dirt. A little soap and garlic scared them off. We also had a family of bunnies, but sadly my cats ate them all....and the moles too. I think one of my cats is shacking up with the skunks down the street. Since the spray incident in the basement, Phloyd comes home every now and then smelling like he's been hanging out in the stunk den. I bet he followed it home. My neighbor said he had a coyote sleeping on his front porch, but I missed that one. As you can see...I hang out in the garden a lot. I'm surpised at how many animals visit my yard and we live in the middle of town. There must be good energy here. I keep waiting to hear an owl. Maybe I need to start calling out for one. I love watching the plants grow and the animals frolic. Heehee.
