Starter plant of contorted tree called Flying Dragon or Trifoliate Orange Poncirus trifoliata. ~Rare~

Requires full sun and a well draining soil. It does very well in containers and can be used as a Bonsai. It is also used for hybridization or breeding of other types of Citrus trees.

Introduced to the U.S. from Japan in 1915. Highly prized in the Orient, where it has been cultivated for centuries. The dragon is used primarily as rootstock for other Citrus trees.

The contorted branches are mind boggling.
The branches and stem are thorny. Makes a great natural border for the yard.
The blossoms in the spring do have a very nice scent as most citrus. This is excellent for bonsai as it is a very slow grower.
This plant does well over winter, outside, but does usually lose all its leaves if we have a killing frost. It comes back to blossom again in the summer. Zones 6-10.
The fruit can be used for flavoring and the skin can be candied.
The Flying Dragon is considered a slow growing tree.
