The listing, Samsung S3-AT&T--Bad ESN--Works but for PARTS! has ended.

This listing is for a Samsung S3 CellPhone. No charger, Sim or accessories included. This was my sisters phone and she has had it replaced. It does have a bad ESN and has been blacklisted by AT&T. As such, the phone is being sold AS-IS for PARTS. Could be activated and used outside of the USA and assuming an already active sim from straighttalk or other provider could be inserted and used. Everything works perfectly on the phone. The phone has been dropped and has one small crack in the screen (visible only at certain angles and at the bottom where not in field of sight!) Also a few marks along the edges from the fall.

You can't fix a bad ESN, I don't know what Rogerjoe is talking about. Once it is blacklisted, that's it. Why is it blacklisted? Is an unpaid bill or was it reported lost? But still a nice phone to use for internet.

It was my sister's phone. She had it a little over a week and dropped it. Even though its minor, She didn't like that So Im assuming she reported it lost/stolen bc she got a new phone and told me I could have this one but that it has a bad ESN now. I like my Galaxy Nexus better than the S3 SO now it is on Listia! :) And you are right, There is No fixing a blacklisted phone if its reported lost or stolen. You can use the phone internationally or you can use an already active Sim from another phone...Thats why I just listed it for parts!

This phone IS Locked...You are absolutely correct!!! It cannot be unlocked..not even if you pay someone to do so!!!! It is listed for parts b/c the phone is in great condition & it could be used that way. There are many uses for a phone with a Bad ESN. It can be used for replacement parts, it can be connected to wifi and used for internet capabilities, the mp3, camera, etc. all can still be used on it and theoretically, you can use the loopholes of companies such as StraightTalk and use this phone with a sim that is activated via a separate phone. Makes perfect sense if you read and understand what you are bidding on! NoOne should bid on this phone if they think they are going to go to AT&T and have it activated as it clearly states in my listing that this cannot be done! Thank you for your comments but please do some research on phones with bad ESN's and their uses before posting such negative comments on someone's auction!

I cannot guarantee anything as I have not been able to try it personally b/c it takes a mini sim & my current phone has a regular sim, that is why it is listed for parts. However, In general, If you have a phone with an activated sim using straighttalk, then You can take the sim out of the other phone, put it into the new one and it will work the same...its stays activated to the other phone. Or you can order a sim from them and have it activated to another phone and then place it into this one. You cannot activate a sim specifically to this phone as it has been blacklisted.

Thank you for the information but Yes I know this. Hence why it is being sold for Parts! However, if you have a sim that is already activated on a prepaid service such as straighttalk, you can switch the sim into the new phone and use it b/c you do not have to report the new phones information to them.

I couldn't use my Sim in it b/c it requires a mini sim which I could have gotten from straight talk but I decided not to use it. So, I can't say 100% that it would work, but the sim I am currently using in my Nexus is tied to another phone and I have no problems with it.

Thanks for your comment and bidding on this auction!!! :) It was my sisters phone. she had it like a week and dropped it. instead of living with it, she (I'm assuming) reported it lost or stolen bc a few days later she had a new phone and said even though it now has a bad ESN, I cld have it & use it on my straight talk plan. I'm partial to my galaxy nexus so I listed it on here, Lol!
