Description

The listing, Mini Cactus Garden-4 Succulents has ended.

Cactus and succulents, including those pictured:
Eve's Needle, Prickly Pear, Barrel, Thimble, and Pincushion Cactus. Agave, Aloe, Yucca, Cereus, Echevara, Jade, and other succulents, cacti, and Tropicals. This auction is for root bare plants. Please note: PLANTS ARE NOT IN THE PLANTER. The plants are well rooted and growing in the sky blue planters but due to damages from shipping of the intact cactus gardens in the past, can't be assured of a safe arrival. So I will remove them, carefully pad and package them at the close of the auction. They are healthy and strong and should not sustain any harm for a short dormant period while being delivered. Please note. FREE SHIPPING on this is about to end. Get it? I am asking for the $2 s/h be voluntarily sent to me and the auction can continue.

Hello,
Nice lot! How many plants total?

I live in Arizona. Very dry and hot. Does the prickly pear and yucca give edible fruit?

Thanks!

Thank you! There are 5 different types of plants. Yes the yucca blooms white, fruit is roughly egg shaped and sized, but much longer, half again as long as a jumbo egg. Turns a very dark, tar-like color when ripe. The prickly pear blooms yellow, about the size and shape of a jumbo egg. It turns deep purple when ripe. I haven't cooked or eaten either but a custome once got some of the prickly pear leaves to cook. I do not think that the yucca fruit is edible. It's very tough and full of hard seeds.

I live in NE Arkansas, and up until a couple of weeks ago we hadn't had much rain. How does one root a cactus plant? Do they all flower? Do to health problems I now have to do all of my gardening in containers. If I got a large container could I plant all four of these in one container? Could these live outside (all 12 months) here? I know in the deserts of California it snows in the winter, and gets unbelievably hot in the summer, and the cacti all do well..

Sometimes too much rain can damage or even kill cacti and other succulents. They should be well drained so that the soil does not stay soggy. Prickly pears and yucca can thrive all year round outdoors with no ill effects. Anything else is not guaranteed to withstand freezing.

I live in NE Arkansas. Up until a couple of weeks ago we had received very little rain, but since then it has rained or stormed every day. I know that in the deserts of California it gets unbearably hot in the summer, and it snows in the winter, and all cacti are doing well, so they should grow here too right? Due to health issues all of my gardening has to be done in containers. If I got a big container could I plant all five cacti in the same container? How does one root a cactus plant?

As long as your containers are well drained, they will do fine in containers. Rooting a cactus is a simple process. When removed from the parent, the cutting should be allowed to harden over the wound. It takes at least 3 days and a week or more is not too long. Leave them in the open air in a not too bright location. In a few days the wound will have closed and a tiny root may be peeking out. It will need normal cactus conditions and will do well with the parent plant or in a separate container or location.

Oh, one more question. Do they all flower? Thanks. Lovely auction!

No, and those that do are not prolific bloomers.
