I highly recommend this as an alternative to declawing your cat. I recommend getting your kitten used to paw handling before you attempt this, and continue to handle your kitten's paws, so that they don't fight as much.
Also, know that since you are covering your cats claws, you have to trim their claws yourself; since your cat isn't scratching and sharpening which is in essence filing down their claws, you have to cut the excess off.
For people who want to apply this without your cat scratching you, put your cat in a towel, making a "cat burrito". When I need a certain paw, I pull it out and wrap her up pretty tight.
I will include glue and printed instructions. You can also have a groomer apply these if your cat is hyper.
This product saves your cat the horrors of declawing.
Declawing is not like a manicure. It's a serious surgery that involves 10 individual amputations—not just of the cats' nails but of the last digit of each toe as well.
Cats often experience extreme pain when they awaken from the surgery and often have difficulty walking. Declawing results in a gradual weakening of leg, shoulder, and back muscles. Because of impaired balance caused by the procedure, declawed cats have to relearn how to walk, much as a person would after losing his or her toes. After the surgery, the nails can grow back inside the paw, causing extreme pain unbeknownst to the cat's guardian.
