Try not using flash and get a little further away from the camera. If you have photo editing capabilities, you can brighten and sharpen the picture with that. I have to take photos at the clinic I work at of injuries all the time. It's what I have to do sometimes to get a good shot. Sometimes the photos are needed for court juries.
