This rare 1 1//2 by 2 inch $2 Internal Revenue Cordials, Wines, Etc. stamp is from the 1914 series. This pre- Prohibtion era stamp was used on only the most expensive of wines and liquors back at the turn of the 20th century. High catalog value. This stamp was issued as Europe began to fight the First World War and three years prior to US getting involved in that war and less than a decade before Prohibition became the law of the land.
