The listing, 500GB External HDD - Firewire 400/800 & USB 2 has ended.

What you get:
This iomega 500GB external HDD has hardly been used and works perfectly. It's been sitting in its original box since I bought it over a year ago. It's a shiny ruby red color and is very slim/portable. What really great is that it doesn't require an external power source and uses the power from the FW or USB port.

Included with the drive are two cables. One is a 6-pin to 6-pin FW cable and the other is 9-pin to 9-pin FW 800 cable. I recommend using the FW 800 if possible to maximize drive speed, but you'll have both options. You can use a USB 2 or 3 cable if you want, but the device will only run at USB 2 speeds, which still isn't too bad.

Note: For those of you with a 4-pin Firewire port on your computers, this will not work. You can't power the drive with a 4-pin port.

Condition: Like new, BUT half of the original box is missing:(

Compatibility: Mac/PC - At this time it's formatted for a Mac, but if you have a PC, you can plug it in and reformat it.

Sorry, this costs $130 on Amazon. Even though it's no longer new, it's still probably worth more than 1200 credits, which is about $1.20:)

Will this work on a laptop that has windows 8?

I don't see why not. The basic NTFS file system for Windows hasn't changed with Windows 8. I can format it for Windows before sending it to you so it will plug and play when you get it.

not being rude but why does everyone assume that 1000 points is $1.00? Its 40.00 for 16,000 points which is equal to .0025 cents per point...

Hi, It really depends on how you look at it. If you need to purchase credits, you're right, the ratio is not 1000 to $1. But, if you look at the gift cards being sold in the rewards store, you'll see $50 Amazon cards going for 50,000 credits and $10 Amazon cards going for 10,000 credits. Gift cards may not be exactly like cash, but they're the closest thing to cash that users can buy with their credits at a 1000 to $1 ratio.

40.00 for 16,000 credits is a newb move , why buy 16,000 creds for 40.00 dollars when you can place a 40.00 amazon card on here and get 40,000 + creds . 1,000 creds equal a dollar !

I definitely agree with that, but I'm sure on occasion someone finds an auction that ends in 3hrs and they don't have quite enough credits so the only option is to buy them at a premium. For anyone who has the time to sell a gift card, that would be the way to get the credits.
