re the pockets facing inside the tub?

Actually you could hang it up either way, facing the inside to put things like kids toys and body wash or so it is facing the outside for more storage like towels and decorations.
It is a great idea I just do no have the brackets for more weight that the curtain, so I am passing it on to someone who could make use of it.
