I'm one step ahead of you on THIS one! I usually run at least one CUSTOM MADE Auction where the buyer sends me a digital image. Some are dogs, friends, family and even couples. I do many, many "mini" portraits like this. I'm finishing up 2 big orders like this tonight. Wish you could see how cute they are.
I have several celebrity images already made up too: Marilyn Monroe, Robert Pattinson, KISS, One Direction, Usher etc...
