Description
The listing, PURPLE QUEEN has ended.
Purple Queen (Setcreasea pallida) is a gangly member of the Commelinaceae family whose members include Spiderwort and Wandering Jew. The fleshy purple leaves are attached to a succulent stem, which spreads over the ground or drapes from a hanging basket. It is native to Tropical America and grows in full sun to part shade. The Purple Queen is very salt tolerant and is not fussy about the soil type. This first photo is a stock type photo, the second will be of the actual plant that you are bidding on. Will get the second photo added soon! As I live in Ohio, I hang my "queens" out all summer long, but bring them into the sunroom during winter. These are VERY hardy plants, from my own plants.
Questions & Comments
Actually, Sherry, these don't have to be rooted to start a new one. You can put a clipping directly into the soil and it will root in the soil. Just so you know!!! :)
Oh I know some people prefer the roots just wasn't sure if you were aware of that. I had one that I used to hang from a tree in the summer and when the leaves/stems would fall off they would root themselves in the ground and it was so cool. But we lived in Maine at the time so of course come Sept. they were pretty much gone in the ground. I love these plants. :)
