Yes, it needs the Sims2 original; this is only the expansion pack

Had to research that; the majority of what I found was that there are a lot of problems downloading expansion packs of Sims 2 after the first expansion. They suggest manual downloads but still it might now work. The majority of what people were saying is that it won't work with windows 7. Sorry :(
