Sort of. It's sort of like a crimper too but only puts waves in not tight crimps. My daughter has super straight hair and uses one these all the time to put waves in. They work awesome.

I've uploaded one for you. Keep in mind the longer you leave it in the tighter the wave but, this is about how my daughter's comes out when she uses hers. I recommend not to put the waver on the very ends of your hair as it makes them appear rather awkward looking and to straight. Hope that helps
