Description

The listing, DOUBLE RANGOON CREEPER - VERY RARE AKA CHINESE HONEYSUCKLE 5 SEEDS has ended.

The latin name for this plant is Combretum indicum, also known as the Chinese honeysuckle or Rangoon creeper. It is a vine with red flower clusters and is found in Asia. It is found in many other parts of the world either as a cultivated ornamental or run wild. Other names for the plant include Quiscualous. This vine, can reach from 2.5 meters to up to 8 meters and the within the pods, the seeds are edible and taste like almonds.
In this auction, I am offering 5 of the seeds already out of the pod. When in full bloom, the flowers give off a wonderful scent. THIS IS A TROPICAL PLANT (Perennial) . I am located in South Florida, so unless you have a greenhouse up North I doubt it will be very happy.
Unfortunately, I am not a mind reader, so if you win this auction give me a VERIFIED LISTIA ADDRESS ASAP or I can't send them out and the credits will be kept.
Good luck and happy bidding!! :)

Would it grow well in Texas?

Rangoon Creeper just might make it in your Texas garden as Dave's Garden shows other Texas gardeners having success with it even though the plant info file for it lists it as being hardy only in zones 10 & 11 ... it grows in Dickinson, Huntsville, Tyler, Brenham, and elsewhere in the Lone Star Republic . . .

an synonymous botanical name for this » Quisqualis indica
another common name for it is "Drunken Sailor"
see » http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31530/

in the proper zones this will grow to a 40 ft. vine . . . please take great care because it has spines or sharp edges; use extreme caution when handling.

it is easily grown from seeds and is best sown directly in place in the garden during the Fall.

however, the name "Chinese Honeysuckle" usually refers to a completely different plant, botanically named as Lonicera tragophylla
