Up for your consideration is a SPECIAL TREAT: This is A HANDMADE KNIFE FROM INDIA, COMPLETE WITH HANDMADE BRONZE SCABBARD. The knife is a total of 9" in length, with a 4 3/4" blade. The blade is single edged with a single blood groove down the center. The bolster and guard are both of bronze, decorated with red and blue dots (of 8 colored dot inserts,4 are still present-2 reds on one side and a red and blue on the reverse). The hilt is oval, working to circular at bolster, made from Ivory, also decorated with red & blue dot inserts, all present. There is one small crack 3/8" long near the bolster, which does not adversely affect the knife. The butt plate is also bronze, decorated by 6 incised lines.
The bronze scabbard is hand decorated by punch in a TREE AND SERPENT motif on the front, and what I take to be the makers name in Hindi, Sanskrit or Arabic on the reverse. The scabbard mounts to a belt with two copper rings mounted to the scabbard by a bronze strap. The scabbard has a small finial mounted at the point.
