Two Asian Dragon and Phoenix Lockets
At first glance, these beautiful brass lockets appear to portray dragons, who in Chinese legend, are ultra-positive symbols of power, good luck and strength. For those on spiritual paths, dragons can also breathe out the fire of personal transformation.
But when you turn this locket upside down (or look down on it as you yourself wear it) the view is different: It is a Phoenix.
The first time I sold these lockets on Listia, a member educated us all about the legendary Asian phoenix. Here is what Kihime wrote:
"An Asian Phoenix. a beautiful bird with long tail feathers that lives for eternity and symbolises the female side of ying and yang. It is often paired with the dragon. (Looking at the locket upside-down, as you wear it) youcan see the face with the beak and the long, feathered neck. "
The second time I listed them, another Listian commented: "Asian Dragon and Phoenix is also lucky to the wearer, and the dragons are set as the protector -- phoenix, the forgiver."
Whew! I only occasionally offer up these lockets, and they get more interesting to me every time!
