Description

The listing, Privit Hedge seed has ended.

Fresh Common Privit (Ligustrum vulgare) seeds 2010 crop. These little seeds are about the size of BB's and as a child, they were used in liew of BB's since I ran out rather quickly.

I'm offering about a tablespoon full of these seeds so there are enough seedlings to grow a hedge around a normal sized yard. Zone 7-10

These seeds need to be planted in the late fall or early winter as long as the soil can be worked. They will sprout and grow as the soil is warmed in the spring. These seeds need the longer period of chilling in the ground to break out.

Simply cultivate a small area about 3' by 3', incorporating a lot of peatmoss and compost. Plant the little seeds 1/4" deep about 3 inches apart in every direction. Press the soil down firmly and wait for nature to take it's course.

Free Shipping anywhere in the United States. Sorry, will NOT ship to APO/FPO or non United States addresses.

I'll see what I can do. The plant will reach a height of 10 feet and 3 feet wide if left to it's own devices. It is best to top it out as a seedling when it has four or more true leaves in order to force side shoots. If the privet is pruned every week by pinching out the end bud of branches with four leaves during it's first year, it will produce a very bushy plant with low branches near the ground.

This is a popular plant for growing a screen around a yard as it can be allowed to grow quite tall, producing resting place for birds and food for them in the winter.

Thank you for the affirmative vote. I will not be able to do so until I get my nursery license, but as soon as it comes it, we'll be in business!
