Hi Margaret, Your very welcome and Thank You for visiting my listing, Yes you can mount it anywhere on a door or window, it has an on/off switch, it has 3 alkaline lr 44 1.5v batteries that are included, and yes I have a couple of these, the packages are sealed, one Person who won 1 recently had said that, the batteries that comes with the unit did not work so I guess they had to buy some new ones, That I'm not sure of how long ago they were packed but the couple I have used myself work just fine, I Love it lol it is very loud and like I said it works Great!
