Fun Auction Here!

This is Half of a Troy Ounce of Pure Silver "bullion". These were hand crafted by me, and are each unique and a fun way to add to your silver collection. For those interested, I simply melted down a few one gram .999 fine silver rounds, hammered down, metal stamped (you can see I drove the stamp in one or two a little too far), and then polished. Sounds easy, but anyone attempting to do this will tell you it isn't easy as it may sound. I had fun learning some things along the way. Although they surely aren't those perfect rounds and bars you normally see, these are really neat chunky ones.

If you are wondering how I got the skulls to look black, it is simply from the polish. The backs are not smooth and the dark spots you see are also from the polish just filling in the small pock marks. Gave it a real cool look I think. The Dime is for size reference only. No GIN on this one ...everyone welcome and gets a chance to get some pure silver onboard. Free Shipping to US with tracking.

Thank you. You should try it ... it is alot of trial and error when I started, and not to mention always realizing I was missing something that would make it much easier, etc. Also finding something that will withstand the heat needed to melt it in was tough. A crucible is good and you don't really have to pour ..silver seems to form to itself and many times the ball formed easily on it's own. I was only working with a few grams at a time, bigger amounts wouldn't work probably. I know once you get the melt down and have just a "ball" of silver, you just pound into shape and heat a little to metal stamp it. If you don't heat it a little, stamping is much harder. This is just a quick idea of how I did it, but as we know ... sounds easy, but once you start doing something like this you realize how difficult it can be and why everyone isn't doing it. It took me many months to find a good way that worked for my ideas. I used to look online and see how in depth people were getting and pretty much thought of a "not so intense" way of doing it. For me, I just wanted some "balls" of silver to pound and work with. Once you get there, the rest is fairly easy I think. Thanks for commenting!

I got them on another well known auction site. I don't want to say the name here, but your first guess would almost surely be right. You could go there and just search "Metal Stamps" and you can see the ones I used and many others.

you know i saw me a video the other day where a guy was using a potato cut in half and singed so silver get no impurities for a crucible i guess for small amounts the potato hold enough moister to hold the 1000 + temp pretty cool to see

I will have to check that out. I can see that for impure silver, but when you are working with pure silver to start, I don't think you have to worry. Depends I guess what kind of crucible you use. I have also melted some while holding with pliers and let the drops fall onto a slanted wood board and they roll right into a pot of water...that makes for a good silver shot. I will have to check the potato thing out though, sounds very interesting. Thanks for the info!
