The listing, PACKAGE of 100 ANGEL TRUMPET PLANTS SEEDS has ended.
A friend sent me 20 seeds 3 years ago and my first photo shows my first attempt at growing them in a pot. Second photo shows it blooming at night. After the flowers drop off a seed pod grows and after it dries up you should snip it off and recover all the seeds. I did that the first year and when I got the seeds ready to plant the following year I thought they were dead so I tossed them in the flowerbed...You can see from my photos that they just took off and filled my flower beds. I dont try to winterize them. I pull them out or trim down to the ground and they come back in full force the following spring. They are a tropical plant and living in hot Texas they thrive even in full sun. They bloom at night and the blooms stay on a few hours afterwards in the norning. The smell is wonderful...The plants are toxic but it doesnt kill grasshoppers...haha. Wash your hands after touching the plant parts.. You will have tons of seeds if you cut the pods off the plants and place the pods in a brown paper sack. After they dry out you can dig the seeds out.

Forgot to ask...I live in central New York state; do you know how they will grow in this zone? Do I plant seeds in the fall or early sping? Or can I plant them in a pot (as I see you did) and keep it inside for the winter (up here in NYstate they may not survive outside) . I am new to gardening and am looking for flowers I can plant in fall so they will bloom in spring (outdoors), but these are so beautiful, I may just get them to put in pots. Thanks, would appreciate some help :) 'Audrey'
Hello Audrey The person that gave me these seeds years ago lives in Pennsylvania so they do live up north but I doubt they will survive the winter. I cut them down in the fall (just to the ground level) and they come back every year. You might try that. Be sure and save the spiney pods in a brown bag and you will have more than enough seeds. Make sure the pods are the size of a golf ball before cutting them off the plant. I check mine every day and cut pods daily also. I have not tried to grow one indoors but I think I will try that this year just to see what happens. I might add when they start growing stake them up. I staked up 3 plants together and what a beautiful bush they formed. Look at photo #6. The bush is twice that size already this year. I do not have a green thumb. Nothing grows for me EXCEPT these plants. haha...I would be anxious to hear how yours grow and if they work indoors...I sell a lot of these seeds on Listia and they go real high in credits so you might want to do the GIN. I also always send more than 100 seeds with each order..
