Thank you for the comment. I'm in the middle of moving too. It will be sad to see this go but I don't have the space for this anymore.

I am not sure who made them. I will be looking for more clues as I pack them. All I can say for sure is that they were made in England.

TIP: when packing ...pack that they can not move. I received a 3 piece set today and they were packed poorly and all broke. I have received dishes and they were fine. Just remember no movement helps in transport.

Thank you for the tip. I will be packing them today. My strategy was going to be to overdo it with bubble wrap. I am a little nervous about shipping these because they are so delicate.

My mother was an expert on packing because we moved every year, sometimes as much as four times a year, when I was growing up. For plates, she always wrapped each, and packed them upside down; she said this made them less likely to break because the strongest part of the plates, the rim on the underside was uppermost. Ditto for cups. Platters were wrapped in cardboard that extended past the platter. My flea market partner introduced me to liquor boxes, with their partitions that are just the right size for cups and glasses; some of the partitions can be removed for plates, etc. I also discovered that empty plastic water bottles are ideal for filling spaces; they can be crushed to fit any space, and will remain stable, especially if the cap is on to capture the air inside the bottle.

Thanks for all the great advice. Were you a military brat too? We used to move around a lot when I was a kid too.

You said you were moving; here are some more tips. Use space bags to pack linens and clothing. Use the Zip Lock brand or the Space Bags brand; the imports, such as those at Walgreens stores, have defective ports. There are websites that sell the bags for less as bundles of various sizes. I should say that these are vacuum bags; the contents are compressed using a vacuum cleaner. These can save you money, especially if someone else is doing your moving, because they require fewer boxes, which saves on labor, time, and space. They are reusable, and are handy to store out of season clothing and such things as holiday decorations. These bags will make breakables less likely to break.

my parents always gave each child a box to pack personal possessions. anything in the box was safe from being discarded. if fuses are used, have fuses. also an first aid kit, the tools needed to assemble beds, put up curtain or blind hardware, pet food and water bowls, etc, the leash should be with the family, for pit stops. prescriptions should be in tote bag with the family, along with snacks and beverages.

Zip locks are the best.

The very last things to go in the truck are these: bed linens and shades or some other privacy screen for the windows. there are inexpensive shades available from places such as Home Depot where the shades are peel and stick applied. Food and water. Light bulbs. The toys and blankets children use for security, that they always sleep with or carry in stressful times. Cleaning supplies, including the vacuum cleaner. A bucket that can be used as an emergency toilet if the water was not turned on on schedule. toilet paper and facial tissue. soap and towels, night gear. at least one change of clothes for everybody. rain gear for those who unload.
The mattresses are usually stored over the cab of the trucks, which means they are usually the last items removed. if kids have sleeping bags, pack them to come out first; you might consider an air mattress for the first night if you arrive late. this will allow the adults to take a nap when needed, if they are doing the unloading.
label all boxes with the contents and room where they belong. It saves time if at least some of the boxes have color codes, red for the kitchen, etc.
