Esperanza (Tecoma stans) is a fast-growing shrub that blooms from early spring until late autumn, providing masses of trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of bright yellow or orange, depending on the variety. At maturity, the plant reaches heights of 6 to 7 feet in frost-free areas, with a similar spread. Native to the warm climates of Texas, Mexico, South America and the tropics, esperanza is suitable for planting in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 9 through 11.
