Description

The listing, LOOK Estate Find 10K Solid Yellow Gold Band/Ring Size 9 has ended.

This auction is for a old vintage estate find 10K solid yellow gold ring/band. I bought this one just this last weekend at an estate sale and the person I got it from said it was a pretty old ring however it is in really good condition for it's age they said they have had it for over 20 years. Please note in the pics it looks kinda tarnished on the right side in first pic that is not the case as you can see from the side pics it is just my camera doing that. It could use a cleaning and buffing though so I am going to take it in to my jeweler again and have them do that I should have done it yesterday but I spaced it out lol. It is a band with etching on the sides and a design in the middle that reminds me of a M lol. I took it into my jeweler the other day and had them test it and they told me it is indeed 10K solid gold but it is not marked 10K it is marked .417 and that marking means 10K gold you can go google this if you don't believe me lol. It could be a man's or women's ring I belive just depends on your taste and if this size doesn't work you could always get it resized as it is currently about a size 9 or you could even melt it down. Here is some info I found online about the marking .417
-Regardless of the recipe, there must be a way to show how much pure gold is in the metal. That is why we have karat marks like 10k. The numbers show the percent or “how many parts” of the recipe are gold. The number is found by dividing the karat number by 24. Remember, pure gold is 24k. Divide 10 by 24 and you get .417, the number for 10k gold.
As always shipping will be FREE! YEAHHHH! I will also ship this FREE to canada only as far as free international shipping goes other coutries would have to pay the difference. Thanks!

Also found this online 10k is 10/24 gold..or 41.7% gold Hence the number 417.

Stampings like these on Gold are in reference to the alloy mixture of the piece of jewelry or "Karat" of the Gold. In everyday terms we are used to refering to gold as 14 karat or 10 karat and so on. The number 417 gives a more accurate indication of what the alloy consist of.

Gold will range from 1 karat to 24 karat with 24 karat being 99.99% pure gold. Therefore you can determine the amount of pure Gold in a piece by dividing the karat by 24. For example if we have a 10 karat gold chain, 10/24 = .41666 or simply put for stamping purposes 417. Or the opposite if we have a piece stamped 584, then .584*24 = 14.016 or 14 karat.
It is a common practice to round these numbers for the purpose of making it easier to stamp them on smaller pieces or as to not take away from the glamor of the piece.

It is a unique ring! I luv older jewelry(and new!) that has a history,So, you think it is from the later 80's or 90's? And i think i saw above that it is solid? The cool thing about older pieces, is that you do not see everyone when you are out, wearing the same type of jewelry:) Thanks!
