The listing, 500GB External HDD - Firewire 400/800 & USB 2 has ended.

What you get:
This iomega 500GB external HDD has hardly been used and works perfectly. It's been sitting in its original box since I bought it over a year ago. It's a shiny ruby red color and is very slim/portable. What really great is that it doesn't require an external power source and uses the power from the FW or USB port.

Included with the drive are two cables. One is a 6-pin to 6-pin FW cable and the other is 9-pin to 9-pin FW 800 cable. I recommend using the FW 800 if possible to maximize drive speed, but you'll have both options. You can use a USB 2 or 3 cable if you want, but the device will only run at USB 2 speeds, which still isn't too bad.

Note: For those of you with a 4-pin Firewire port on your computers, this will not work. You can't power the drive with a 4-pin port.

Condition: Like new, BUT half of the original box is missing:(

Compatibility: Mac/PC - At this time it's formatted for a Mac, but if you have a PC, please let me know and I'll format it for PC. I have it plugged in with the FW800 and just verified it using Disk Utilities - http://d.pr/i/Nz0L

Hi, The system requirement for a PC are Windows 2000 Professional, XP, Vista - 256MB or RAM or higher. Clearly you will also need either a 6 or 9 pin firewire port or a USB port on your computer.

From the reviews of this product its really hit and miss but from what I could find it can work with windows 7, but like I said, the product itself is very hit and miss and it working on a pc is extremely hit and miss..

I can believe that. I know of one user who tried this on their XP machine, which should be compatible, but it didn't recognize it. This is just one more reason to get a MAC:) works on every one I connect it to.
