This is the first presidential coin made in 2007. The date and the rest of the lettering was stamped on the edge of each coin. What's interesting about the George Washington Golden Dollars????? Well when they stamped the lettering on the edge, some ended ~up~ and some ~upside down~. This is evident when you hold the coin with George facing up you can see that some are up and some are down. What happened is that when the coins came down the chute to be stamped on the edge, they were purposely allowed to go in the press either heads up or heads down. This of course meant the coins had letter up and some down. Now, some seem to think that this was a error and lots of coins were sold that way to unsuspected buyers. But, truth is that they ARE NOT error coins at all. Most collectors do like to have a set of these just for the matter I explained above. Now YOU can get a set!!!
