Description

The listing, Uranium Glass Saucer Georgian Aka Lovebirds 1930s Depression Glass has ended.

Hello! Up for grabs is this vintage uranium glass saucer. This saucer is from the pattern series know as Georgian, also known as Love Birds. It was produced between 1931 and 1936 by Federal Glass Co from Columbus, Ohio. Uranium glass was produced pre 1945 by many companies who created Depression glassware as a cheap home commodity for struggling families. The only way to easily identify true uranium glass is by shining a black light on the piece to see if it glows. The only modification I did to the "glow" pic was a purple reduction filter to eliminate the black lights color. Uranium glass has been deemed unfit to eat off of by the FDA but is not dangerous to touch or have in your possession! I have an extensive collection so if this auction goes well I may start popping up more pieces. This plate measures 6" in diameter. There is an area near the center which looks like it is cracked but it is actually a ripple in the glass from production. Thanks for looking!

Love it! I'm still trying to get over paying 45,000 credits to a Listian for a uranium oil lamp and they closed shop. No oil lamp! F & W

Yeah, it was beautiful too. You probably saw it, Whitewine46 had it. I know she was selling quite a few lamps. I don't know how many people got their things. I guess I'll have to save my pennies and buy one.

Are you a uranium collector or just out for uranium lamp? You gotta be careful with the oil lamps since there are mini sized ones that people try to pass of as full size!

Well I've collected depression glass for probably 40 yrs, (when you could buy pieces for 10 cents at the flea market). I fell in love with that lamp but had already commissioned a stain glass with different pieces of depression glass in it. Uranium glass was one of the glasses. So I would say that it would probably be the next one to collect, and I have always loved the Love Birds. Thanks for the heads up about the minis.

Do you have a favorite series? I'm always on the lookout for Cracked Ice but have only found one piece.

I own Blue Bubble. ( my first set) I also have some American Sweetheart monax, and Newport Hairpin in cobalt. I really would like English Hobnail in green. I don't know if I know Cracked Ice. Is it similar to Tearoom?

Yes it's just like tearoom only more jagged!

Ok, I'll keep my eyes open. I know tearoom is very hard to find in perfect condition because of the edges. If I see any I'll grab a card from the dealer.
