The listing, Catnip/Catmint(Nepeta cataria) Seeds has ended.
One packet containing the seed heads pictured here. The seeds themselves are on the left. Above them are the spent flowers that contain seeds. To the right is the top of the plant they came from.
The bag will contain all of the spent flowers with their seeds you see on the plate from this stem. Each spent flower contains three or four seeds. A general shake of the stem dropped about two dozen seeds so the final number of seeds you will receive after you remove them from the flowers could be quite large.
Catnip makes an excellent relaxing tea for humans or a treat for cats. It also has insect repellant properties to a variety of pests. Catnip will self-seed and return yearly and, like many members of the mint family, can become invasive unless managed properly.
Catnip prefers full sun but will grow in partial shade. Start seed indoors in containers or outside after danger of frost has passed. Keep soil moist until seedlings are no longer tender, after which they can become quite drought tolerant. If transplanting outside, plant seedling 12 to 15 inches apart. Catnip is known to achieve a size of 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Catnip will flourish and come back yearly in zones 3-9.
