I was wondering I bought a 1963 benjamin franklin proof for $18, but mine is a lot more shinny. my friend thinks it is fake but we are both not to familiar with coins.
yes. proofs are more shiny but not necessarily more expensive. your proof lists for $22 in the 2013 Red Book and the MS64 lists for $40. Go figure ... more shiny - less expensive?
The Red Book lists the '63 Proof at $22 and the '63 MS65 at $40. I misread the 65 as 64. But my point was still valid. Proofs aren't necessarily more expensive just because they are more shiny. The coin in this auction is a MS64. But the difference is it is a '53 D which is a lot more valuable. Sorry for not making that clear.
