Description

The listing, Palestinian Mil Coinage 1935 - 1942 under British Administration has ended.

For auction:

A lot of six (6) different Palestinian coins from the 1935-1942 era while Palestine was under British Administration. Picture 1 shows the dated sides of the 1 mil, 2 mils, and 5 mils lot. All of the coins are bronze, with the exception of the 1939 5 mils coin which is copper-nickel. Looking at picture 1 you can see the small rounded-hole non-copper-colored 5 mils coin. All of the coins are in VF-EF condition, and were demonetized by Israel in 1948.

Pictures 2 and 3 show the two sides of the 1941 2 mils coin, which is 28 mm in diameter or about 1.1". About 1.6 million of these were minted, so it is the second rarest coin in the lot.

Pictures 4 and 5 show both sides of the 1939 5 mils coin, of which 2 million were minted. This coin is 20 mm in diameter (a little more than 3/4").

Pictures 6 and 7 show both sides of the 1941 5 mils coin, of which 2.7 million were minted. This coin is identical to the 1939 in condition and diameter, except that it is bronze.

Pictures 8 and 9 show both sides of the rarest coin in the lot, the 1935 1 mil coin with only 700,000 minted. The coin is only slightly larger in diameter than the 5 mils coin at 21 mm. It is the most valuable coin in the lot. There is some mild discoloration on the non-date side of the coin.

Pictures 10 and 11 show both sides of the 1939 1 mil coin, of which 3.7 million were minted.

Pictures 12 and 13 show both sides of the 1942 1 mil coin, of which 4.5 million were minted.

Each coin will be placed in a 2x2 mylar-protected coin holder, and shipping will be done with tracking.

Thank you for looking at my auction, and be sure to check out the other ones as well for some real treasures!
